GROWN IN MEMORY OF MOM
A Showcase Garden for Style, Function, and Memories to Make
Creating a welcoming, professional garden for Heirloom Potager that would function both as a working garden, meeting space, and a place to enjoy after hours was an engaging challenge to blend form, function, and timeless style.
The front yard garden is a nod to the home’s French Normandy architecture and features over 160 square feet of raised bed garden space that models a more classic potager style with additional space for a pollinator garden, quiet reading nook, and an outdoor dining area.

Outdoor Dining +
Entertaining Space
The former enclosed courtyard was transformed into an outdoor dining room to add much needed seating and entertaining space for clients and guests. The 9ft table was hand-crafted from durable California redwood to match the raised beds and withstand Southern California weather.
Sturdy benches provide seating for 8-10 and an elevated space for additional garden pottery.
The beauty of a potager is planting with the seasons for abundant harvests and continuous variety in the kitchen.
Multiple garden beds provide space to rotate crops each season, grow in proper lighting conditions, and maximize harvest options. Each garden bed includes a custom irrigation grid to provide even seasonal watering.
Cool season favorites such as mustard greens, lettuce, and late warm season peppers will provide food throughout the fall and winter seasons in Southern California.

The garden entrance features an 8-foot wide classic arch to grow flowering vines and vine crops over head to maximize growing space. The archway entrance is an ideal spot for seasonal holiday decor, bringing more ambiance to the garden.
The garden is also “enclosed” with a living fence of low-chill espalier apple trees grafted with Anna’s and Golden Dorset varieties.
Wide aisles provide space for walking, extra pottery, and a garden wheel barrow to make maintenance a breeze. In-ground solar pathway lighting glows softly at night to guide visitors through.
